APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE COVID-19 AND INFLUENZA VACCINE UPTAKE INITIATIVE WITH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON AGING, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023 THROUGH FISCAL YEAR 2024.
WHEREAS, Community Action Grants in the amount of $100,000 aimed at supporting cities with a more targeted approach to vaccination efforts are available from the National Council on Aging (NCOA); and
WHEREAS, eligible activities aligned with the goal of this funding opportunity include hosting community vaccination clinics, arranging and providing accessible transportation to vaccination sites, conducting outreach, education, and decision support to older adults and people with disabilities regarding Covid-19 and Influenza vaccines; and
WHEREAS, during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the City of Albuquerque's Department of Senior Affairs (DSA), in partnership with the State of New Mexico's Aging and Long-Term Services Department (NMALTSD) and the 311 Community Contact Center, helped register 4,500 Albuquerque metro area seniors 60 years old and up in the New Mexico Department of Health's (NMDOH) vaccination database for the purpose of obtaining Covid-19 vaccinations; and
WHEREAS, DSA developed technology services and programming for older adults, who because they lacked internet access or technological skills, had become disenfranchised by the online registration system; and
